About Fishing 4 Freedom

In August of 2008, during an annual fishing tournament in La Paz Baja California Sur, (then) strangers, Greg David- Executive Director of Desert Snow, and Anthony Buich- President of LaPazFishingCharters.com, were competing against one another for the day’s top prize. When the tourney was complete, what started as a heated competition quickly turned to a handshake, a “good sportsman’s congratulations”, brief introductions, and inevitably- cocktails. The competition didn’t stop there.

Inspired by the story Lone Survivor, by Marcus Luttrell and the lost heroes of Seal Team 10; Anthony mentioned his desire to do something significant and memorable with his charters for our Special Operations soldiers. He did not know that Greg along with many of his immediate family members are retired military. As a matter of fact, Greg and his father Joe, a retired California Highway Patrolman, own Desert Snow: a national anti-terrorist training company which works with many soldiers, law enforcement, government agents, and various “other” clients. Needless to say, it was a perfect fit and the competition to out-do one another voyaged on.

Since that August meeting, these 2 are taking great pride in their efforts to build Fishing 4 Freedom into a major, annual fundraising program for the highly awarded charity: Special Operations Warrior Foundation. In January 2009, the beautiful resort development: Gran Suenos and the restaurant El Cardon, located just outside La Paz in Bahia de los Suenos (Bay of Dreams), became a major co-sponsor. This unforgettable resort destination combined with world-famous blue water sportfishing will give Fishing 4 Freedom an outstanding pedigree for a high level of enjoyment.

Thank you for supporting our troops, we look forward to having you aboard.
